Salem Automation offers the CHARON software products to emulate the PDP, VAX
or Alpha hardware on a new Windows/PC server or workstation platform. The
CHARON emulators allow you to move your entire VMS or RSX operating system
and applications over to the new CHARON environment unmodified. Source code
is not required but if you have it, your IT staff can continue to modify and
support your applications on the CHARON emulators as you do now. Users will
not even know you have moved to the CHARON emulators, except their
applications will run considerably faster under a CHARON emulator! Salem
Automation has installed nearly 300 of these CHARON emulators in a variety
of applications so CHARON emulation provides a very low risk option for
continuing to use your system for another 10 years or more. Generally, if
you are under a hardware maintenance contract, a turnkey CHARON emulator can
be purchased with a 6 to 18 month payback! Total time from purchase to
installation can be as little as three weeks for a CHARON emulation system.
